An immersion in life, love and racism in 1950s Florida

Set against the backdrop of 1950s central Florida, Three Strangers: A Trilogy in Black and White delves into the complexities of country life, segregation and personal power through the lens of three main characters.
- Lora Lee looks for breaks in the monotony of farm life, school and church, while dealing with bullies and pondering whether dark-skinned people may be more like her than she's been led to believe.
- James' days are filled with love and laughter at home and church, but his encounters in town are often tainted by the overt and sometimes perilous racism of the time.
- Hattie struggles with feeling unappreciated and unfulfilled both at work and home. When her husband shows how little he cares, she must learn to find her own joy, or live without.

Evelyn was born and raised just outside of Lakeland, Florida. Like her character Lora Lee, she lived a sheltered life on a farm in a remote country location, with school and church comprising her social life.
